We are delighted to share that Prof. Dulal Panda, a WRCB-associated PI since 2016, has been elected a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) under the Structural, Cell, and Molecular Biology category. A pioneering, merit-based academy, TWAS focuses on the scientific advancements made in the developing world. The fellowship is awarded to scientists who have made significant contributions to science in developing countries. He is selected for his outstanding contribution to understanding the assembly dynamics of microtubules and the mechanism of action of microtubule-targeted drugs. His research has unveiled several inhibitors of microtubules with a strong-anticancer potential. He has also studied FtsZ in bacterial cell division and established it as an antibacterial drug target.
