What we do
WRCB supports technology translation and commercialization in the four core focus areas of Diagnostics, Therapeutics, MedTech and Synthetic Biology. Through regular call for proposals we support bioengineering research at IITB, and also provide other support services
Intramural Grants
We support both translational research in bioengineering and the commercialization of bioengineering technologies developed at IIT Bombay through regular calls for proposals.
- Translational Research Grant (TRG)
- Commercialisation Support Grant (CSG)
- Young Scientist-Entrepreneur fellowships (coming soon)

Translational Research Grant (TRG)
We fund bioengineering projects with the potential for translation through calls for proposals twice in a year, once in March and once in September. We fund both early and late-stage (up to TRL 5) projects. A link to previously funded projects under the translational call can be found here.
Commercialization Support Grant (CSG)
IIT Bombay PIs with bioengineering technologies at an advanced stage of development (TRL 5 and above) can apply for commercialization support funds. These technologies need not have been developed through WRCB's translational funding. If the PI or a team member is planning to incorporate, it should be done within 12 months of receiving the commercialization funds. The readiness of the teams for incorporation will be judged in discussion with SINE and other ecosystem partners. Some examples of expenditures supported by these funds include patent filing for the US and other jurisdictions (PCT), consultancy charges (for fundraising, business planning, IP/FTO, and other advice), prototyping for validation, field testing, animal trials, human trials, regulatory expenses, etc. These funds are also disbursed through regular calls for proposals.
Industry Research Partnership Program (IRPP)
WRCB works closely with industry partners to bridge their R&D gaps, provide them access to state-of-the-art technology, and help them become technology leaders in their sectors. For several years, WRCB has successfully operated the Industry Research Partnership Program (IRPP) which has fostered fruitful collaborations between IIT Bombay’s PIs and industry partners.
Translational Research Support
We provide various support services to our PIs during the execution of the project.
- Extramural Funding Support
- Intellectual Property review landscape support
- Outreach to CSR funders

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
