Wadhwani Research Centre for Bioengineering organized an ice-breaker session on 'Partnering For Success - Adapting Right Model For Innovation Commercialization' with Dr. Akhilesh Sharma, President and Group Medical Officer, Alkem Laboratories. His talk covered

Dr Sharma - M.D. from Mumbai, Fellow of Royal Liverpool Hospital society-U.K, advanced training in Clinical Research at Berkeley Extension, California State University, USA and Global Pharmacovigilance, Luton Medical Centre, UK. He has around 30 years of worldwide experience in areas of Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Translational Medicine, Biomarkers, and Clinical Pharmacology across various multinational pharmaceutical companies, based in the US & India. Currently President & Chief Medical Officer for Alkem Laboratories Ltd, he has also co-founded biomarker research organisation GeneXY in Philadelphia, USA jointly with Wistar Institute, Pennsylvania University campus. 

He is an advisor to special projects at Harvard-Wyss, visiting faculty at Texas Tech University- Innovation hub (USA). He has been on the panels on Drug Development, Clinical Research and Drug Safety at various national and international forums including at USFDA workshops and an invited faculty at leading international conferences & institutes. He is passionate about translational research and innovations in drug development and clinical trials. Dr. Sharma has to his credit more than 54 scientific & research publications, and 52 patents and holds membership of the International Pharmaceutical Society, American Academy of Dermatology, American Diabetes Association, and European Society of Respiratory Medicine.
