A one-day session on "Intellectual property is driven research and development" was organized by the Wadhwani Research Centre for Bioengineering (WRCB).
The major goal of the workshop was to familiarise IIT Bombay innovators with key ideas related to intellectual property (IP) in the context of research and development, with a particular emphasis on biomedical and life sciences applications. The program covered a variety of aspects, including landscaping, freedom to operate, and IP-driven strategies in academia and industry, as well as strategies for creating IP-driven ventures. Real-world examples were used to provide practical insights.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Raj Hirwani, a leading expert in the field of technology management and entrepreneurship, along with Dr. Mohan Kulkarni (Emeritus Scientist at CSIR URDIP) and Dr. Sangeeta Telang (Senior IP Analyst, Novonesis).
