Development and Training Workshop on Technology Readiness Levels (TRL)

Wadhwani Research Centre for Bioengineering (WRCB), IIT Bombay organized an extensive 3-day workshop on “Understanding Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and the various steps involved in research-to-product translation” from 20 – 22 November 2017. Two major objectives of this event were: Development of TRL as a tool for the assessment of the readiness of technology/product and training to understand the application and how to use it The 3-day TRL development and training workshop was attended by participants from varied backgrounds. The attendees included faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, students, and project staff from different departments (Chemical engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Humanities, and Social Sciences, etc.) and IITB centers like BETiC, SINE, etc. The workshop was led by Mr. Ankur Naik, Managing Director of Uziel Healthcare. IZiel Healthcare offers a range of services from Concept Engineering, Product Development, Process Engineering, Validation, and Risk Management to Contract Manufacturing for Medical Device companies. Overall the workshop was a great success! Participants having experience in varied backgrounds brought in a lot of information and knowledge which helped build the tool for the assessment of the readiness of projects. Mr. Ankur Naik conducted the workshop with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. Nikhilesh and Ms. Ashwini from IZiel helped with the TRL tool development software. Team WRCB appreciates the quality of service, professional approach, and vast experience of Iziel’s personnel. The workshop was very well presented and extremely fruitful.
