The second WRCB Oration was delivered by Prof. Anurag S. Rathore (Ph. D Yale University, USA), Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi. He spoke about the 'Challenges and Opportunities in Development of Biosimilar products'.

Prof. Rathore has previously held management positions at Amgen Inc., Thousand Oaks, California and Pharmacia Corp., St. Louis, Missouri. His areas of interest include process development, scale-up, technology transfer, process validation, biosimilars, continuous processing, process analytical technology and quality by design. He has authored more than 400 publications and presentations and presently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology and Associate Editor for Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology and PDA Journal of Science and Technology. During the talk Prof. Rathore addressed three major topics:

The economic drivers for the biosimilars
Unique requirements of the emerging markets
The challenges that are faced during commercialization of biosimilars
The talk was attended by a good number of students and faculty members. The attendees found the talk extremely informative.
